The tarot deck is typically divided into two main sections: the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana.

  1. Major Arcana: This part of the tarot deck consists of 22 cards, each of which represents a significant life event, archetype, or spiritual lesson. These cards are often seen as more powerful and symbolic than the cards in the Minor Arcana. Some of the well-known cards in the cards include The Fool, The Magician, The High Priestess, The Empress, The Emperor, The Lovers, The Chariot, Strength, The Hermit, The Wheel of Fortune, Justice, The Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, The Devil, The Tower, The Star, The Moon, The Sun, Judgment, and The World. Each card has its own symbolism and meaning, and they are often used in readings to provide insight into a person’s life or situation.

  2. Minor Arcana: consists of 56 cards divided into four suits—Cups, Pentacles (or Coins), Swords, and Wands (or Rods). Each suit contains 14 cards, including 10 numbered cards and 4 court cards (Page, Knight, Queen, and King). These cards are more focused on day-to-day events, emotions, and practical aspects of life.

In tarot readings, both the cards are used together to provide a more comprehensive interpretation of a situation or question. The Major Arcana cards are often seen as representing major life themes and spiritual lessons, while the Minor Arcana cards provide additional details and context. Tarot readers and practitioners use their intuition, knowledge of symbolism, and the layout of the cards to interpret their meanings and offer guidance to those seeking insights.
